Interview With Tom
Yates
First off, congratulations on a fantastic week!
Did you follow anyone's advice (do you use a content site), did you go with
your own players, or was it a combination of both?
I do subscribe to a few sites and enjoy seeing
other peoples rankings. BFDFantasy.com is a great site for rankings in this
type of scoring format and those guys do their homework. I respect their
opinions a great deal and the running backs I chose had input I gained from
their site. I had my own reasons for the other guys so I guess to answer
your question, it was a combo for sure.
What key players at higher salaries were you
counting on to perform and why did you choose them?
I knew I wanted one of the big 3 running backs,
and BFD had Ladanian ranked #1, so that was good enough for me. And I know
how important good wrs are in this type of scoring (ppr) and chad and Fitz
are my own 2 highest rated and I loved both of their matchups, chad in KC
and Fitz at home against the 49ers.Those 2 were givens in my mind and
although Chad didn't have a big point day, he did drop a sure td in the end
zone, so he had his chances for a special day.
What sleepers did you throw in and why did you
think they would make good plays last week?
I admit I am a homer, I live in Pittsburgh, and
I loved the Steelers against the Fns. I thought Willie Parker would have a
chance to shine, especially when it was learned that Charlie Batch would
start. And I thought Heath Miller would get looks every time the Steelers
were in the red zone. They, to me were cheap priced with huge upside, and
that's the type of thing I look for in a cap style format. No way could I
forsee that Heath Miller td, though. Better lucky than good sometimes. Thank
you Nick Saban. And the 2 qbs I chose were not exactly sleepers but weren't
the top ranked I think, I just loved their matchups this week, Warner
against sf and Donovan in Houston.
When did you feel confident that you had the
Grand Prize wrapped up?
I honestly didn't even believe it when I saw it
on the site. I spent the weekend in Las Vegas drafting in the World
Championship of Fantasy Football and flew back to Pittsburgh on Monday. I
looked at the site and thought I had a chance (you always do with lt2) but
when Janikowski threw up a big zero I thought someone would blow by and win
the week. I refused to believe I had won until I got the confirmation email.
Best email I got in a long time.
What do you think of the "weekly contest"
concept?
Excellent, big prizes go out every week, what a
GREAT idea!
Did you enjoy the live scoring and the live
leader board and did you monitor it throughout the day?
Not this week as I was away from the computer
during games out in Vegas, but you can be sure I will use it the rest of
this season, you have a customer here.
10 grand is a nice chunk of money the first week
of the season....do you have any plans for it?
LOL, WOW. PAY SOME BILLS (LIKE THAT VEGAS TRIP I
JUST TOOK) and have some fun, and keep playing fantasy football .Thanks
guys.
The most important question.....will you be
signing up for Big Daddy's Weekly contests in the future?
EVERY SINGLE WEEK!
Once again, great job Tom, we have a feeling we
will be cutting more checks to you in the future.
Thank you guys, wonderful game, great site.
